NCRP RFFC Technical Assistance (DOC)
Deferred/Unfunded
Develop a pilot business venture under the umbrella of our non-profit to facilitate and broker woody biomass for landowners, forest stewardship projects, and biomass utilization businesses. Currently, FRG’s emphasis is on harvesting and distributing small-diameter poles, but this business will encompass a variety of sustainable forest products. In the development of our business we will research the feasibility of starting an aggregation yard to provide a reliable supply of small diameter round poles to local businesses.

Project Description Narrative (1,000 character limit)
To increase the scope and impact of the business development we are undergoing as part of the NCRP Woody Feedstock Aggregation Pilot Project it has become clear that we need more funding to supplement this grant. Our intent is to popularize small diameter poles and natural building as an affordable alternative to conventional building materials. We want to empower rural communities to work on the health of their forests while providing a supplemental income in value added products. Integrated into the narrative about reuse, deconstruction and upcycled wood, we will continue to tell the story about why these materials are important to forest health. Hiring a grant writer to support our core team will allow us to apply for a CalFire Workforce Development Grant, PG&E Community Hub grant, and find and position ourselves for future grants.
