Rainwater Catchment Systems to Support Resilient Landscape Management

  • Engage with Regional Partners to Inform High Quality Planning and Implementation
  • Ensure Water Supply Reliability and Quality
  • Respect Local Autonomy and Local Knowledge in NCRP Planning and Implementation

NCRP RFFC Technical Assistance Round 2
Deferred/Unfunded
Regional Parks would like technical assistance from engineers at local RCDs to design rainwater catchment and distribution systems at two parks where springs and well water have run dry, making water unavailable to support park operations other than hauling in water by truck, or ceasing vegetation management activities due to lack of water. Regional Parks would like to obtain assistance in designing rainwater catchment systems to support resilient landscape management and wildfire protection for adjacent communities in Santa Rosa and Rohnert Park.

Project Attributes

General Information

Project Description Narrative (1,000 character limit)
Regional Parks would like technical assistance to develop designs for rainwater catchment systems off of structures at Taylor Mountain and North Sonoma Mountain. Rainwater collected off of Regional Parks facilities will provide water for park operations, grazing operations, vegetation management, irrigation, and wildfire emergency response. The project will conserve groundwater and municipal water needed for other uses, and provide resources for resilient landscape management.
