HEALTHY, SAFE AND RESILIENT COMMUNITIES Address Climate Change and Extreme Event Effects, Impacts and Vulnerabilities
The McKinney Fire (2022) burned >60,000 acres resulting in a damaged forest ecosystem with high soil burn severity and high erosion risk that has experienced multiple debris flows that continue to impact fish passage and habitat. Technical Assistance is requested to develop a Forest Health Pilot Project that would support the long-term recovery of these areas through reforestation and stabilization actions to slow the rates of water and sediment movement and stabilize upslope areas. The requested technical assistance would enlist the help of experienced foresters to help the Tribe refine the pilot project's focus and identify suitable areas to prioritize for reforestation treatments.
