HEALTHY ECOSYSTEMS, HABITATS AND SPECIES Conserve, Enhance and Restore Watersheds and Ecosystems that Support Biological Diversity
The Denmark Creek project is located in the Navarro River watershed of Mendocino County on a working property. A multi-generational family of Mexican heritage reside on the property and work in an onsite commercial agriculture operation. Previous landowners installed infrastructure in the creek resulting in severe negative impacts to salmonid habitat. Domestic and agricultural water supply needs rely on surface water sources. The project proposes to conduct planning and assessments with the goal of improving salmonid habitat and providing water storage for fire preparedness and irrigation. Technical assistance funds enable a grantwriter to prepare an application to a CDFW grant program.
