General Information

Project Description Narrative (1,000 character limit)
The groundwater supply in the Valley Ford area suffers from some level of contamination, must be monitored and is not suitable as drinking water. Currently, all public facilities are supplied by hauled water and this situation has been ongoing for nearly a decade. The project involves improvements to drinking water infrastructure sourced from groundwater that is high in nitrates and often has positive results for coliform. Groundwater supplies in the area are slim and the only well identified with sufficient yield is high in fluoride. The project will improve the existing well and treatment infrastructure and add a second new well. The project design has been ongoing for several years. The NCRP Technical Assistance included updates to mandatory documents that required new field research, to allow for project implementation.
