The CalForest WRX Alliance will use a relational approach, facilitating collective learning, testing and iterating, to identify a smaller geography within the CalForest WRX area to develop a business plan that addresses the needs identified within the collaborative process and leverages demonstrated interests and investment in implementing the business plan. The plan will recognize our shared interests related to improving forest health, wildfire resiliency, climate change mitigation, and equity and economic uplift through creating a robust and resilient biomass and smaller diameter log market.

Location
The CalForest WRX area is defined with consideration given to working at landscape level bounded by physical features such as watersheds, infrastructure such as transportation networks, lumber processing facilities and related woodsheds, and political boundaries. The geographic extent includes all lands within Del Norte, Humboldt counties along with western portions of the Trinity and Siskiyou Counties. The geographic extent of the study area is being extended to include Mendocino county so as to include Mendocino Redwood Company’s mill in Ukiah and related woodsheds and communities. Major watersheds include the Smith River, mid and lower Klamath, Lower Trinity, the Van Duzer, Mad and Elk and Eel River watersheds. The Alliance will identify a smaller geography within the CalForest WRX area to develop a business plan.
