General Information

Project Description Narrative (1,000 character limit)
The SPBA was started in 2020 with funding support from NCRP for the SVRCD’s “Siskiyou County Collaborative Prescribed Burn Association and Demonstration Project.” The Demonstration Project kickstarted the SPBA for the initial development of a PBA through leadership, training, and two demonstration burns. The SPBA has continued to develop, hosting and participating in burns and trainings throughout Siskiyou County and integrating with PBA efforts throughout the State. SVRCD has maintained a central coordination role for the SPBA despite limited sustained funds to do so. The SPBA wants to revise the guiding documents to reflect SPBA developments and to provide a framework to continue expanding the scope and impact of the SPBA. In part due to the limited capacity for SPBA coordination, SVRCD is requesting technical assistance to invite a third-party facilitator to assist the SPBA in updating the partnership structure and guiding documents.

Project Types

Project Types

The TA project will advance local and regional resilience and capacity through improved and dedicated coordination of planning efforts that improves the efficiency of the Siskiyou PBA by refining structure to reflect the Siskiyou PBA's current operation. By having a dedicated third-party facilitator, Siskiyou PBA partners will be better equipped to implement activities and prescribed fire by having the structural development, by-laws, and other documents to guide efforts.
This project will directly support the Siskiyou PBA and communities it serves by taking on capacity work including but not limited to structure development, by-laws, and other organizational-level administration that will give the PBA and its partners more freedom to take on other central PBA work.
This project will enhance the beneficial fire capacity in Siskiyou county.
