NCRP RFFC Technical Assistance (DOC)
Implementation
This project seeks technical assistance for developing a plan and grant development for funding to install 10-12 water storage tanks in the Albion Little River Fire Protection District to provide water for firefighting use and also to maintain the insurability of properties within the district. Many property owners in the area have had their insurance dropped because of vulnerability to destruction by fire, due in part to the lack of availability of water for fire response.

General Information

Project Description Narrative (1,000 character limit)
We seek to install 10-12 30,000 gallon water storage tanks along our 4 roads to have water available for firefighting use only. We are not seeking potable water storage. The secondary goal is to place these tanks throughout our communities in order to maintain property owners' ability to purchase normal fire insurance. We want the tanks that are designed to fill with rain and fog and by water truck. A valve is also needed to be placed for easy access for drawing water by water tenders and pump trucks. We would like to place these tanks 2 miles apart along our four roads and Highway 1 in order to meet the ISO standards that all properties be within 1 mile of a suitable firefighting water source. We need help selecting tanks and installers, identifying suitable sites and obtaining permanent legal contracts with property owners. We need help with site prep, tank installation and maintenance and repair procedures.
