NCRP Technical Assistance Round 3
Deferred/Unfunded
Yurok Tribe is requesting technical assistance in support of the in-progress Weaver Creek restoration project. TA is needed for assessments of bridge and road conditions and sewer infrastructure from a structural engineer, and greenspace design from a landscape architect or recreational trails planner. Assistance with preliminary project design and planning as well as project benefits quantification is needed. Further, this funding would provide a needed non-federal match requirement for the overall project.

General Information

Project Description Narrative (1,000 character limit)
Conservation needs in the Weaver Basin include stream habitat restoration for anadromous fish species of concern. Historically, colonial settlements in North America disregarded their infrastructure impacts on surrounding natural resources. Fraught with legacy impacts from gold mining and logging, Weaver Creek habitat is degraded in water quantity and quality, habitat connectivity, and ecological resilience. As risks from drought hand wildfire have increased, ecological resilience is paramount. These risks can be mitigated with increased habitat connectivity and wetland areas. The Weaver Basin Improvement Planning Project will inform opportunities for environmental improvement, community development, and public safety. The Yurok Tribe is currently undertaking a habitat restoration project on Weaver Creek. The scope of work needs to expand to include infrastructure improvement in the surrounding area.
